It was my freshman year of college, and my roommate and I decided to go to an event hosted on campus to get to know some of the other freshman living in the dorm. Soon we heard someone was giving out free chicken nuggets and that sounded like a pretty good deal. We made our way over and introduced ourselves to two BHSU football players, one of which was Jayson. At the end of our little chat, we both received chicken nuggets and my roommate received Jayson's snapchat and I received the second football players' and we went about our evening. At the end of the night, my roommate and I were recalling the events and people we met that night and chatted about who we might see in our classes tomorrow. I was going through my messages before bed, and I saw the name "Jayson" pop up. I asked my roommate if she remembered who that was, as we met a lot of people that night. She described him and I shrugged and added him back. What could it hurt, right? Weeks went by and we had formed quite the friend group. It was mostly filled with girls we lived by or shared classes with and... Jayson. My friends and I kept wondering why he kept coming back... he had friends on the football team, right? On October 8th, I found out why. Jayson Connor Rouse asked me out on a date! We got Leone's, drove through Spearfish Canyon, and he took pictures of me there. I still cherish those pictures to this day! Later, on October 14th, 2021, he asked me to be his girlfriend. October is not only the peak season for the leaves to change in the Canyon, but it is also a very special month for our relationship. If you made it this far, I could not be happier to see you at our wedding on October 2nd, 2027.
