Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by May 15 by visiting the RSVP section of our website. If you have any trouble RSVPing, feel free to text Meg at 586.337.2982.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

The dress code will be black tie optional. We ask that men wear a tuxedo or a suit & tie and women wear an evening gown or cocktail dress. For more information on black-tie optional attire, check out this guide! https://www.lulus.com/blog/fashion/black-tie-optional-guide/amp/

Question

Can I bring a date? Are kids welcome?

Answer

The guest list for this event is limited to those who received an invitation.

Question

Is there a shuttle from the hotel to the venue and back?

Answer

Yes, we will be offering guests who are staying at the hotel block (Doubletree Suites by Hilton Downtown Detroit) a shuttle to and from the venue. Shuttle times are still being finalized, but check back here on the “Hotel & Transportation” page for more detail.

Question

Is there parking at the ceremony & reception?

Answer

Yes! The reception venue (Grosse Pointe Club) is located directly behind the church. There will be parking available, and valet will be offered at the reception. For those who are staying at the hotel (Doubletree Suites by Hilton Downtown Detroit), a shuttle will be provided to and from the hotel. Self-serve and valet parking options are offered at the hotel for a fee.

Question

What happens after the ceremony?

Answer

After the ceremony, the bridal party & immediate family will be taking pictures nearby for around an hour. Guests can head straight to cocktail hour at the Grosse Pointe Club where we will be serving appetizers and beverages. You can easily walk from the church to the entrance of the Grosse Pointe Club, which is located behind the church (no need to move your car if you parked on site).

Question

What type of food will be served?

Answer

We'll be serving hors d'oeuvres and drinks at cocktail hour followed by a sit-down dinner with a choice of entree. Guests can choose between a filet, chicken, vegetarian or vegan pasta when you RSVP. Please let us know if you have any other dietary restrictions.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Absolutely! Dinner will be plated; please share any requests along with your RSVP. We will do our best to accommodate you, and we will also share allergen and nutritional information wherever we can.

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Yes! Liquor, wine, and beer will be served at the bar throughout the reception along with specialty cocktails from the bride & groom.

Question

Am I allowed to take photos at your wedding?

Answer

Please refrain from taking photos at the ceremony to limit distraction and so that our photographer can get the best possible shots without interference. At the reception, feel free to take as many photos as you’d like! We will also have a photo booth available.

Question

What is the weather like in the area?

Answer

During late June, you can expect the weather in Grosse Pointe to be in the mid 70s to mid 80s. Note that our venue is located off of Lake St. Clair.

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

We are registered at Amazon; see our “Registry” page on this website for a link to the registry.

Question

Is the Grosse Pointe Memorial Church the same as the War Memorial? Are you getting married at the War Memorial?

Answer

Nope! Our ceremony is at the Grosse Pointe Memorial Church and our reception will be held directly behind the church at the Grosse Pointe (“Little”) Club. Coincidentally, the War Memorial is located right next door to the church, but they are not affiliated and that’s not where we are holding the wedding! You can see a map on our “Schedule” page with more detail.
