Like most people during the pandemic, Megan and Jon’s adventure began on a dating app. After months of working from home, quarantines, and staying mostly closed off from the outside world, Megan and Jon connected in February 2021. They spent the whole day texting back and forth about sports (it was Super Bowl Sunday after all), boy bands, cooking, Megan’s obsession with her pets, and Jon’s disgust in Megan preferring unsweetened iced tea. Although Megan was sure Jon would ask her for a date eventually, she credited Tom Brady for speeding up the process. Had he not led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to victory that evening, she wonders if Jon, an avid Bucs fan, would have needed more time to work up the courage. Two days later, they met up for a breakfast and bowling date and have been happily (and competitively) trying to out bowl one another ever since.

Jon proposed to Megan on September 24th, 2022 in front of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. They had come to the city to see Kevin Hart, but first Megan visited with her former college roommate (now bridesmaid), Sarah. Her suggestion to meet up for manicures should have piqued Megan’s suspicions. But she was oblivious to the plans that had clearly been made ahead of time. As they were heading out to the show, Jon suggested they take a photo in front of the Arch as it was right next to the hotel. Jon approached a small group of women and “asked them to take a photo.” To Megan's complete and total surprise, those ladies were really recording a video while Jon pulled a ring from his pocket. While neither of them remembers exactly what was said, they both know Megan without a doubt said, “YES!” The ladies recording cheered and asked to take a couple pictures themselves to show the friends they were meeting up with why they were running a little late for dinner. It wasn’t until later that evening Megan and Jon realized they should have asked the women for copies of those pictures. At least they have the video of the proposal and memories that will last a lifetime.
