Walk the halls to see which old Hollywood stars came to stay and ski there, take the family to the bowling alley or visit the year-round ice skating rink! End the day with a cocktail at the Duchin Lounge. Our welcome party is just around the corner!
We love spending mornings here with a coffee, cold brew or latte and the brass ranch omelet. Don't sleep on the house-made English muffins.
Great place for cocktails for those staying at the Lodge, or for those who want a glimpse of Sun Valley history. Don't miss a chance to walk through the halls to see amazing photographs of old Hollywood stars on the SV slopes.
Rent ebikes or bikes to get around town for the weekend... or mountain bikes for an adventure!
There's a great put put here. Follow with lunch or drinks at the club.
The entrance to this trail is just across the street from the Sun Valley Lodge. It's great for any level and a pretty way to start the day!
This is a beautiful loop trail that takes you up enough elevation to see all of Sun Valley for the second half of the hike. It's an intermediate hike (easy except for the middle mile that takes you uphill.) There is no parking at the trailhead, but it's only 2 miles from the Sun Valley Lodge. Walkable and easy to bike to the trailhead. We may use this for our welcome hike, tbd!
Our favorite small almond latte and a cute shop to poke around in while waiting. Closed Sundays.
Yummy coffee and a great turkey sandwich.
Our favorite lunch in town -- the kale quinoa salad + chicken salad combo is delicious. The burger and baked goods are also a delight. Be prepared for a bit of a wait for food, or you can order to-go on their website. They serve breakfast as well.
Every wrap here is tasty, but we particularly love the Superb Chicken (Kyle) and Redfish (Laura). This place is next door to the Best Western and a across from the Limelight making it convenient for those staying at either.
Don't miss a chance to sit in the sunshine and drink some schooners at Kyle's favorite mountain bar (and best place to stop post-hike or post-ski).
A fun rooftop spot for cocktails and locally distilled liquor. A great place to sit down before your dinner reservation.
This is our favorite place for beer, cider and natural wine in town. The absolute friendliest staff and a cool setting (used to be a dynamite shed in the late 1800s with a crack in the wall to prove it.) A frequent haunt as we wait for our table at Rickshaw and they even let you eat Rickshaw takeout inside.
The best dirty martinis in town (with the exception of those made by Dave Luhr himself.)
The Pio is a historic landmark and a 'can't miss' stop for a drink. We spend NYEs here (during which they provide glow rings to toss onto the taxidermy) and love popping in on weekends for a very Sun Valley setting. It's also great for a classic steak and baked potato dinner.
Outdoor deck great for beer and sunshine. One word: frickles.
Our hands down, all-time favorite restaurant in Sun Valley and amongst our top anywhere. No reservations, but worth the wait for a small group. Put your name in and wait it out at TNT Taproom or by playing some ping pong at the restaurant's side yard table. Kyle's favorite: K.F.C. Laura's favorite: Green Papaya Salad (might not want to mix in the chilis... they are spiiiicy to say the least.) Also delicious: Chiang Mai Curry Noodles, Sichuan Green Beans and Balinese Cucumbers.
A delicious spot for Italian food and wine. The bacon-wrapped dates and all flatbreads are winners, not to mention the vanilla gelato. Make a reservation ahead of time for Thursday or Friday night.
On the swankier side of Sun Valley dinner spots. Great drinks and food. A reservation is helpful for a Thursday or Friday night.
This is where we got engaged, so it holds a special place in our hearts. A perfect spot for a romantic dinner for 2 or a double date in a quaint cabin setting with guaranteed great food. Outdoor seating in the Summer. Call for reservations.
Go-to for bike rentals in Ketchum. Recommend booking ahead of time if possible.
This runs for 20 miles, but the local parts are gorgeous and give you a great route for quickly seeing the stunning views of Sun Valley. A can't miss! If you don't rent bikes, you can still walk the path and see gorgeous views of the river.
An 8 mile, 20 minute drive to a beautiful setting and hot springs just off the side of the river. We have spent a couple New Years days here and it's just as great in the Summer.
One of Laura's favorite hikes, as the initial uphill turns into an unfettered view of Sun Valley with gorgeous wildflowers in the springtime. 4 mi and pretty easy after the initial mile uphill. Not suitable for little ones as there are skinny parts of the trail.
Park at River Run Lodge and cross the bridge to hike up to a gorgeous outlook! Trailhead is to the right of the chair lift. We may go here for our welcome hike tbd.
