If you have a few hours and want to see the beautiful work of the Missoula Floods some 15,000 years ago, take the 30 min. drive to the Portland Women's Forum State Scenic Viewpoint (Chanticleer Point). From there drive just 12 min. down to Vista House Point and on to Multnomah Falls, along the Historic Columbia River Gorge Hwy. If you have more time to continue on to Hood River for lunch, you can watch world-class windsurfing and kite boarding. Head down Hwy 35 to Hwy 26 and complete a circumnavigation of Mt. Hood (Circle of BOOM!), stopping for a scenic beer at Solera Brewing in Parkdale and further on, to take in Timberline Lodge, the 1930’s WPA wonderment. In total, this would be a 6 hour auto-cross.
