We met at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, CO. We both lived in Bunting Hall, Elizabeth on the fourth floor and Ryan on the third. We had a few mutual friends, and the more we spent time together, the more we started to click. After going on a few dates to the cafeteria or library, Ryan asked if we wanted to become official. At first, we were both unsure of where this relationship was going, but after a year of dating we knew that we were meant to be!
Ryan decided to propose on Christmas day, 2020. After a long day of work, Elizabeth came home and was greeted by the entire family: Sherry, Jeff, Tiffany, Zachary, Ian, and Dale. Everyone had come together to celebrate Christmas after a rough year. Ryan had prepared a Prime Rib, which he cooked himself. After opening gifts, Ryan stated that the most important gift was yet to be recieved. He proposed by handing Elizabeth a river rock, stating "You know, penguins mate for life. They walk really really far to find the perfect rock to give to their mate." He got down onto one knee, "I too walked really far for that rock, but then found another. Elizabeth Ferriman, will you marry me?" Overcome with emotion, we both tried to hug each-other and ended up knocking the other over. A wave of cheers erupted from our family, and we all celebrated with a round of whisky.
