How We Met

The Power of the BUMBLEbee

In February 2019, two strangers swiped right on Bumble. While the app requires the woman to reach out first, she wasn’t great at checking the app so after a couple of days of no responses, he asked for her number. That night they were texting while he was at the Black Heart’s Ball at Crystal Bridges so she sent him two pictures of herself in front of two painting to checking out while he was there. A couple minutes later, he sent two pictures back, in the same position, in front of the same paintings even down to how she was holding the coat (see "Photos" tab). He had her hooked. The first date was planned, for the very next day, February 17th, 2019, a baseball game, in a box full of men, in 30 degree weather. While she tried to get out of it, he wouldn’t allow it and showed up at her house with two friends in the backseat – chaperones required. The date was perfect and anytime you can have a first date last over 3 hours and still want to see each other the night of, you know it’s meant it be. The Power of the BUMBLEbee. We are proof that dating apps can work and that the wait is SO worth it!

Our Fairytale NYC Engagement

December 7, 2019

In the beginning of their relationship, Alex would always talk about how much she loved New York City at Christmas time. She loved the atmosphere, the sights and the larger than life Christmas displays and wanted to share that with Drew. In fact, she talked about it so much that Drew knew exactly what he wanted to do…So, they planned a trip up so that Drew could meet Alex’s friends in New Jersey and see for himself what Alex loved so much about it. Little did Alex know that Drew had bigger intentions than just seeing the sights and the trees. On Friday, they flew out to New Jersey to spend some time with Alex’s friends. On Saturday, they trained to NYC with her friends to explore, have brunch and see all the gorgeous Christmas Trees… well one in particular. After a late brunch, they made their way to Bryant Park to see the shops, ice skating rink and tree. Once they were finished there the group headed to the Lotte Palace tree - it was the same tree that Alex & her friend Sara and had visited just a year ago - when she was still single. When they got there, Alex and Drew were positioned to take a picture in front of the tree. After the picture was snapped Drew turned to Alex and said, “I had so many things I wanted to say at this moment but I don’t remember any of it. All I know is I love you and…” That was about the time Alex blacked out - Drew continued to say amazing things (per Drew), he got down on one knee and Alex said YES! After they kissed to seal the engagement, Alex turned around to see her sister, mom, dad, his parents and 5 of her best friends and their husbands come out of hiding – Alex was in SHOCK! Then the happy tears hit. They celebrated the rest of the night with 25 of their friends and family at a bar that over looked New York City & Long Island. It was THE MOST PERFECT fairy tale NYC engagement.
