Our First Date

Our coffee date turned all-day date.

I asked Starr on a coffee date set for Dancing Goats Coffee Bar on Saturday at 11am. Here I am that morning (early I might add) waiting outside of the coffee shop around 10:50am. I waited... waited... waited a little more. It was now 11:20am. I had a million thoughts going through my head but, the main one was “SHE STOOD ME UP!”  Alas, putting my brain at ease, she called to tell me she was searching for parking. The first two minutes everything already began to click. We grabbed our coffee and went to Ponce City Market to talk. Eventually, we were both hungry and decided that our date would extend to a lunch date at Greater Good BBQ, (which was delicious). I still wasn’t ready for our date to be over so we headed back to Ponce City Market. Our car ride we learned about the types of music we each liked and laughed...A LOT. We talked about life, our love for God, dreams, aspirations, you name it... and it still didn’t end there. We went to Jeni's for ice cream, Oriental Express for dinner, and wrapped it up at the movies. I dropped her off to her car at 1:50am! We looked at each other and laughed not knowing that our twenty minute "coffee date" would turn into the first day of a new chapter in our lives.

His Proposal

We traded our day date for the skyline and red roses.

David told me that we were going on a day date after a super busy work week and it was supposed to start with reservations for brunch. We never made it to that brunch afterall. We pulled up to Ponce City Market where David was “meeting a client who wanted to sell her condo” and that the restaurant was right down the street. David leaves me with his “client” and his iPad as he skips off to the bathroom. His “client” pulls up a video of David announcing that there was no day date followed by videos of our out-of-town family and friends sending congratulations and best wishes. Next, “client” takes me to the roof and blindfolds me. She takes me on what felt like the longest walk ever. When she takes the blindfold off I see my friends and family lined up with red roses that led me to David with the final rose ahead of the most beautiful view of the Atlanta skyline. I cried buckets. After I collected all my roses, David confesses his love for me and gets on one knee. Of course, I said Yes!
