How We Met Told By Raymond

Wanted: A man of God who loves to stay active

On June 9th, 2020, I received a notification from Facebook Dating (yes Facebook has a dating app) saying I have matched with Dr. Joy Dangerfield. Seeing her profile for the first time I was greeted with pictures of a beautiful young woman with perfect locs and the most intoxicating smile I had ever seen. Her profile read "Looking for a man of God who loves to stay active". I said to myself "I am a man of God...we will see about the active part". I messaged her, she wrote back, and we eventually exchanged phone numbers. After talking on the phone for a few days and some not so subtle hints from Joy, we agreed to meet for coffee. I was so nervous about the date that I showed up at 9:35am for an 11am date. If you have not had the blessing of meeting Joy in person yet, you will see that pictures are unable to capture the immense beauty that she radiates. She was the most gorgeous woman I had ever seen in my life. I spent the entire date looking away in an effort not to stare at her. She was crazy enough to agree to me taking her on a proper dinner date and the rest is history.

A Christmas Proposal- As Told By Joy

12/25/2020

Never in a million years did I think I’d be the girl who got engaged on Christmas Day! This particular Christmas, was extremely special to me because I was meeting Raymond’s family for the first time. I was excited and nervous about putting my best self forward- and not once did I think Ray would choose this day to propose. As soon as we landed in Florida on Christmas Eve, Ray started acting VERY strange. He was receiving millions of phone calls and running multiple “errands”. In hindsight, I shouldve known something was up! But in the moment, I thought he was excited to be back in his home town. Christmas Day came and the weirdness continued. However, I was too nervous to comment. Ray’s family was soooo welcoming towards me and I ended up having an amazing time. One of my most special moments, was when Ray’s aunt handed me a “2020 Boykin- Pandley Christmas” mask and welcomed me to the family. After a beautiful evening filled with lots of laughs, Ray suggested we drive through his old neighborhood. He took me to his old home, thay was decorated with flowers, candles and my loved ones from home all there to see. Then he got down on one knee and gave me the best gift of all… The Beginning of Our Forever ❤️.
