It was just another night out, meeting up with a friend to have some drinks. Nothing crazy. She had to get home early to finish packing for an out of town trip. Totally fine! I had Bartender Joe to shoo away any weirdos who tried to talk to me while I was finishing my drink. Then I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around and Jesse has a big smile on his face and is waving at me from a foot away. I'll admit, I was skeptical and was tempted to ask him if he was lost. But we sat at the bar and talked and laughed and sang for the rest of the night. Oh, and we had our first kiss too 💕
There was a lot that went into our proposal! Jesse recruited my MOH, Paige, to help pop the question. Paige asked me to dinner, which I assumed was just some much needed bestie time. She asked if we could go for dinner on Sunday because she forgot she had plans on Saturday. I didnt want dinner to interfere with the Bills game, so I suggested brunch, then hanging out to watch the Bills play. She agreed and suggested we go somewhere downtown. I suggested 800 Maple because it was about halfway between our houses. She agreed and suggested we dress fancy for brunch. I was considering wearing my Bills gear to brunch... When I told Jesse that Paige and I were going for brunch on Sunday, the first words out of his mouth were, "Without me?! Babe, you know I love mimosas!" So I said I would ask Paige if he could come too. Her response was only if he's on his best behavior... We had a wonderful brunch at 800 Maple in Williamsville and at the end of our meal, my friend Lindsay (who happened to be bartending that day) came over and gave the three of us a glass of champagne. That's when Jesse grabbed my hand and said he had been thinking a lot about our future together and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. Having not been the first time I had heard him say this, I smiled and said "Ok, babe, sounds good to me" and brushed it off as every other time we've talked about our future. Then he reached into his pocket and pulled out a box and I realized what was happening. He was actually asking me to marry him! I distinctly recall asking him "Wait, are you really doing this right now?!" He got down on his knee and said "Will you marry me?". It must have felt like forever that he was down there because I couldn't believe that it was actually happening and before I could get over the shock and surprise to finally say "Yes!"
