8 Years of Happiness

As told by Julie

I always knew of Chris all throughout high school through mutual friends but never “officially” met him until Thanksgiving Eve 2010 standing on line to get into the infamous bar – McHebes. We chatted briefly about none other than the New York Yankees and then went about the night with our friends. It wasn’t until the end of the night that he decided to strike up a conversation and ask for my phone number. With the next morning being thanksgiving, my mom thought it would be appropriate to take everyones phone away to have true family time. I was mortified when I got my phone back and saw a text from Chris from early that morning! I didn’t want him to think I was ignoring him. Time went on, we talked and hung out for the next three months with all of our friends rooting for us to get together. As winter break was ending and I had to go back to college, he asked me to be his girlfriend. After years of twists, turns, fun and laughter, he decided to seal the deal in Central Park on December 22, 2017. Boy am I glad we ran into each other that night and cannot wait to celebrate our wedding day with family and friends on June 8, 2019!

How We Met

As told by Chris

Although we both knew of each other in high school, Julie and I formally met one night out at a bar the night before Thanksgiving. We talked for a while and I was able to get her phone number, so everything was looking pretty good. The next morning after our turkey bowl game was done, I was talking to my friends about Julie and asked if it was too soon or weird to give her a text. They urged me to text her and basically gave me the thumbs up. So I did. A long time went by, no response. Finally she answers and made up some excuse that her Mom took her phone away and blah blah blah. I honestly thought she wasn’t interested, but I still wanted to give it another chance. We finally got to hanging out a couple times, and everything went well.... except she said maybe 4 words. I think it took like 3 or 4 times of hanging out for her to actually look in my direction while she addressed me. Eventually, this shy girl broke out of her shell and she became my fun, loving, smiley girlfriend. Years went by and I knew I had to spend the rest of my life with her. On December 22, 2017 I asked her to marry me and finally this June she will become my wife.
