Aidan and Gianna first met at Pomfret School where they were in the same class. They became friends in their junior year when they were both in the a capella group, the Grifftones. They remained friends until one day, in the Chapel on campus (where they are soon to be married!), the Grifftones were rehearsing "Ain't No Sunshine" by Bill Withers, for which Aidan had the solo. She still doesn't know what it was, but when he started singing, everything came together, and Gianna realized that he was meant to be in her life in a more meaningful way. After lots of back and forth and unknowns, they became a couple in late October of their senior year. They spent almost every study hall together, would always look to sit with each other for Chapel or School Meeting, and spend time together with their friends on the weekends after sports. One of their favorite activities was to sit on one of the many benches around campus and talk for hours. Once college decision time came around there were many tears shed on Gianna's part (as we all can guess). Aidan went off to Georgia Tech in Atlanta to become an engineer, and Gianna went to Hobart & William Smith in Upstate New York. Almost 1,000 miles apart, why would they stay together? When it finally came time to say goodbye to their relationship after graduation, they realized that this was something more. They had accidentally become best friends and couldn't imagine life without the other. After five years of long-distance through college and the pandemic, they now happily reside in Massachusetts with their new puppy, Sequoia. Aidan and Gianna are excited to move to Putnam, CT, just 10 minutes away from Pomfret, in August.
Ever since they left for college, Aidan and Gianna had always talked about getting married. Not too much about the wedding planning and the big party, but about the true sanctity of being husband and wife. On 2/2/22, Aidan brought Gianna back to Pomfret School for the first time since graduation. He drove up in front of Orchard House, her dorm senior year. After study hall every night, Aidan would walk Gianna all the way across campus back to her dorm to say good night. On this night, he said that he would never have to say good bye again. After their engagement, they enjoyed dinner at the Mansion at Bald Hill where they had their senior prom.
