Travel Note
If you guys want to go the Airbnb route, feel free to text Ali or Jonathan directly a link so we can give insight on the location for you (neighborhood, food, stores, etc)! We are here to help. There might be a couple in Waialua but the rest/more affordable options would be in Honolulu/Waikiki area.
Hotel
If you're trying to stay out of the costs and craziness. of Waikiki, the Embassy Suites Kapolei is a relatively affordable hotel about 30 minutes from Polo Club (our wedding venue), and located on the westside of the island. Hotel amenities include daily complimentary breakfast buffet, complimentary happy hour (2 drinks + snacks), and a pool. The hotel is extremely close (<5 min) to multiple large chain stores such as Walmart, Target, Costco, and Safeway. There is also a large selection of restaurants near the area. A few of our favorites for a fine dining date night are Mina's and Roy's restaurants, both located in Ko Olina. If you're wanting live music to go with your date night, Moani's is just down the road. For a more casual/cost friendly meal, Broke Da Mouth Grindz, and Dina's have local plate lunch options. Beaches nearby include but are not limited to White Plains Beach, the lagoons at Ko Olina (might need to pay for parking), or take a drive down deeper into westside and go to Nanakuli Beach Park (be courteous to locals there!).
Hotel
If you are looking for a beach retreat and going all out vacation mode ($$$$) for your trip, Ko Olina Resort is a gorgeous location about 40 minutes from Polo Club (our wedding venue), and located on the westside of the island. The hotel is a string of multiple resorts that include private lagoon/beach access, multiple pools, walking trails, restaurants, and a golf course. It is also a short drive (<10 min) to multiple large chain stores such as Walmart, Target, Costco, and Safeway. Hotel
Located in Honolulu right at the start of Waikiki, Ala Moana hotel is reasonably priced and convenient location about 40 minutes from Polo Club (our wedding venue). A short 10-15 walk to Magic Island Beach, this hotel is also connected to Ala Moana Mall, the largest mall on island full of stores and restaurants all within walking distance (perfect for anyone here to get some shopping done and take advantage of our 4% sales tax!). Ala Moana is also a short drive (~10-15 min) to Waikiki. Nearby the hotel there are a lot of our favorite restaurants only a short distance away such as Nico's at Pier 38, Liliha Bakery, Highway Inn, Merriman's, Jade Dynasty (Dim Sum), and Istanbul.
Hotel
Located at the end of Waikiki across from the zoo, Queen Kapiolani hotel is reasonably priced and about 45 minutes from Polo Club (our wedding venue). A short 5 minute walk to the beach, this hotel is deep in Waikiki, giving you the traditional Hawaii beach vacation with ample restaurants, catamaran tours, paddle-board rentals, convenience stores, and bars within walking distance. Nearby there are a lot of our favorite restaurants only a short drive away such as Rigo, Herringbone, Grand Hyatt Buffet, Moani's and Side Street Inn.
Hotel
Just down the road from Embassy Suites Kapolei, this hotel is comparable to if not cheaper than Embassy Suites. However, a major thing to note is when we spoke to this hotel, they said that there will be construction the month of October- meaning noise might be an issue to guests during the day. If you plan on being out most of the day, then this is an affordable hotel about 30 minutes from Polo Club (our wedding venue), and located on the westside of the island. The hotel is located in Kamakani Alii, a mall + shopping plaza which makes it extremely close (<5 min) to multiple large chain stores such as Walmart, Target, Costco, and Safeway. There is also a large selection of restaurants near the area. A few of our favorites for a fine dining date night are Mina's and Roy's restaurants, both located in Ko Olina. It is also walking distance to Moani's, which is known for their live music, Taqueria El Ranchero, and DB Grill.
