We met in church two years before the start of our relationship. He initially spoke to me all because of my infamous jollof rice (a popular African dish), but he would like to deny it. I remember speaking to him the Sunday after he tasted the food I had made and he made such an impression on me but unfortunately I had to go back to Buffalo for my last semester of school. However I could not stop thinking about him. That's how much of an impression he made on me. Fast forward to New Year's Eve Service 2017, I traveled from Arizona to spend the holidays with my family, and at 12 midnight January 1st, 2018, the entire church broke into a praise break, however, for some unknown reason, he started dancing with me, but he claims to this day that he can't remember dancing with me. Unfortunately, I had to go back to Arizona the next day and we didn't get the chance to meet or talk afterwards. In March of 2018, I traveled to NYC again and this time I had hoped and prayed that I would see him at church again and was determined to start a conversation with him but unfortunately he didn't come to church for the two weeks I was there. Thankfully for me, he was already friends with my brother-in-law and I had to beg my brother-in-law for his number which I was able to get. On my way to the airport, back to Arizona, I had to build up all the courage in the world to text him, which is something I never do, but I did anyway and I’m glad I did because he has continuously made me smile and laugh since the day we started texting and talking to each other.
Who knew that eating jollof rice could lead me to my missing rib. As I tried to compliment Miriam, Ann’s sister, for an awesome food, being that I had missed such a nice home cooked meal for a while now, she told me that my to be was the one who made the delicious food and that’s how we became acquainted. So there goes the saying, a way to man’s heart is through his stomach. When I decided to ask God for that person He had created for me, Ann’s call came in asking me why I had missed a service and we continued talking from there on out. Then, after many heart to heart conversations all I could say was that God never fails as I believe God answered my prayers. I asked of Him and I received the Gift of an awesome woman that I am willing to say all the I do’s to.
