Fate is a funny thing. When it seems the chance at love has passed, the most influential of activities will have its way. For years, Kim & John ran in the same circles attending events with mutual friends, failing to notice the other. At UNL, John quietly played the piano and Kim performed to her hearts content. When John became aware of this beautiful redhead, it was love at first sight - for him. After discrete and awkward inquiry, he built up the courage to approach this stunning woman. His efforts would go largely unnoticed. Unknown to John, Kim could hold an hour long chat with a rock. Misinterpreting her willingness to converse as romantic interest, it became a tale of unrequited love. After a last ditch effort to message the girl of his dreams, they started summer break apart. However, John knew he had one more chance to win Kim’s heart and was willing to do whatever it took. For her, he chose to endure his most difficult challenge yet –joining show choir band. Once John became a member of the Big Red Singers it didn’t take long for Kim to ask “Who is this mysterious musician that keeps talking to me?” Kim finally accepted John’s advances and they began to date in August 2015. That's right, folks - it was show choir that brought these lovebirds together. John loved Kim’s enthusiasm and energy, and Kim overlooked John’s brooding nature to see a caring, and hard-working man. They withstood the trials of a long-distance relationship as Kim finished at UNL while John moved to start his first job as band director in Elm Creek. After a year of FaceTime and phone calls, John planned the surprise of a lifetime. On April 27th, 2017, John had the band play Wagner’s Wedding March as students held up signs asking “Will You Marry Mr. Kosch?” Happy tears, a nod YES, and an ENGAGEMENT! Kim later graduated in August and started her own path in Elm Creek. These two are ready for their life together and are so grateful for everyone who has been a part of their story.
