Should I hire a car?

Answer

It depends. The Cigarral and most hotels in Toledo have ample parking for your vehicle. If you are traveling with kids and aren't going to spend time in Madrid, it may be worth renting a car directly at the airport (which will be an approximately 1 hour drive). If you are spending time in Madrid, renting a car isn't worth it. Taxis, Ubers, Cabifys and public transport is easy, reasonable and plentiful.

It is possible to get to Toledo by public transport?

Answer

Yes, the easiest way is by bus or train to Madrid Atocha Station for an onwards train to Toledo. The Airport Shuttle Bus (€5 each way) leaves every 10 minutes 24/7 from the Terminals 2, 3 and 4 and takes 30 minutes to reach Madrid Atocha. Alternatively, you can catch the local RENFE train (€3 each way), line C-1 (which departs from Terminal 4 only) to Madrid Atocha. From there, take the train directly to Toledo. It runs every hour and takes 30 mins (€13 one way). Toledo train station is within walking distance from the historic centre.

What's the best way to get around Toledo?

The city itself is very small with narrow cobbled streets throughout. The easiest way of getting around Toledo is on foot. Uber, Cabify and other rideshare apps are great in Madrid, but ARE NOT AVAILABLE in Toledo. Taxis, however, are plentiful. Please see the travel page for more info on taxi's

Depende. O Cigarral e a maioria dos hotéis de Toledo possuem amplo estacionamento para seu veículo. Se você estiver viajando com crianças e não for passar um tempo em Madri, pode valer a pena alugar um carro diretamente no aeroporto (que será uma viagem de aproximadamente 1 hora). Se você está passando um tempo em Madrid, alugar um carro não vale a pena. Táxis, Ubers, Cabifys e transporte público são fáceis, razoáveis e abundantes.

É possível chegar a Toledo de transporte público?

Sim, a maneira mais fácil é de ônibus ou trem para a estação Madrid Atocha para um trem para Toledo. O ônibus de traslado do aeroporto (€ 5 por trecho) sai a cada 10 minutos 24 horas por dia, 7 dias por semana, dos terminais 2, 3 e 4 e leva 30 minutos para chegar a Madrid Atocha. Alternativamente, você pode pegar o trem local RENFE (€ 3 cada sentido), linha C-1 (que sai apenas do Terminal 4) para Madrid Atocha. De lá, pegue o trem direto para Toledo. Ele sai a cada hora e leva 30 minutos (€ 13 só ida). A estação de trem de Toledo fica a uma curta caminhada do centro histórico.

A cidade em si é muito pequena, com ruas estreitas de paralelepípedos por toda parte. A maneira mais fácil de se locomover em Toledo é a pé.
