Although David and Chris had both worked together within the same theatre groups; they didn’t meet until a mutual friend (Sydney Magers - also in the wedding party), made her directing debut in Dogfight: The Musical, where David was cast, and Chris was hired to music direct. The connection was instantaneous, and from that moment; they were inseparable. They’re first official date was at Beef O’Brady’s -A decision they would ultimately regret. 😆 In 2019, David bought a townhouse in Jeffersonville, Indiana where they both lived for a short time, until eventually making their way to Lanesville, Indiana, near Chris’s parents. They call Lanesville home, and hope to, one day, build a larger home to accommodate the soon foreseeable addition(s) to the family. 👨👨👦👦👶🍼
Since Chris’s favorite place in the entire world is France, David knew this would be the perfect proposal location… or so he thought. The idea was to propose the first night they arrived, so they could celebrate the rest of the trip. The turbulent flight, caused David to spend the entire journey in the bathroom, and on oxygen. He was so embarrassed. When finally arriving to Paris, they were exhausted, and could not check-in to the hotel for 7+ hours, so they had to keep busy, while miserable and tired. After check-in, and a nap, they headed to Arc de Triomphe where David planned to propose. After 164 feet, and 348 steps up a spiral staircase, he decided to wait until they could both breathe properly. 😅 They had dinner, shared some wine, and made their way to the Eiffel Tower. A perfect 2nd option. As it was almost time for the tower to light up, David thought it would be a good idea to hop on some electric scooters to get there faster. It wasn’t long until Chris hit a curb, and fell. With a bruised shin, he gets up, and they finally make it to the Eiffel Tower. Unaware, until it was too late, the scooters cannot be ridden or parked near the tower, David decided proposing and getting back on scooters would be less than ideal, so they found a place to park, and started to walk back to the hotel. David spots a beautiful bridge that seemed a good proposal substitute, and guides Chris in that direction. In route, they pass a young girl hysterically crying after being broken up with by her boyfriend. This sure set the mood. They made it to the middle of the bridge, where they sat, and enjoyed the view of the Eiffel Tower, as it reflected over the water beneath them. David noticed Chris getting antsy for bed, so he gets up to pop the question, trips over the brick-paved ground, and falls, in what felt like slow motion. Since he was already on the ground, he kneeled up, opened the box that held the ring, and asked, “Would I like to spend the rest of my life with me? I mean, you. Do you want. Will you. *Deep breath* Will you spend the rest of your life with me?” Without hesitation, Chris grabs the ring. They kiss. “So is that a yes?”, David asked. “Yes!” Although the entire day was a nightmare; it couldn’t have ended any better.
