We met at a brunch with mutual friends on March 29, 2015, and were instantly drawn to each other. In the (almost) 11 years since, we’ve built an amazing, adventure-filled life together — alongside our two cats, Kuechly and Moo, who we both love with our entire hearts. Beyond our love of cats and each other, we share a deep passion for exploring the outdoors and taking what we like to call “adventure vacations.” These usually involved flying with camping gear, renting a car, and setting off to find towering trees and breathtaking mountains. Together, we’ve driven the scenic curves of the Pacific Coast Highway, stood in awe beneath the giants of Redwood National Park, hiked the awe-inspiring, snowcapped peaks of Mount Rainier, and explored the dramatic landscapes of Scotland. But nothing captured our hearts quite like Canada. From the first glimpse of Banff’s turquoise waters to driving the the glacier-lined Icefields Parkway with mouths wide, Canada had completely stole our hearts and we knew we’d be back. On Friday, August 4, while staying in Jasper, Michael and I set out on our first hike there: Bald Hills. We had the top off the Wrangler, and as we drove through the breathtaking scenery toward the trailhead, I started to cry. “I feel so silly for crying, but this is just the most perfect day,” I said. Little did I know he was about to ask me the most important question, in the most beautiful place, at the most perfect moment. We chose Estes Park to bring our love story full circle - a proposal on a mountain and getting married in front of them.
