It all started on a rainy day back in 2019. We had both just finished our morning classes and happened to be walking the same direction to our dorms. I was struggling—umbrella half open, trying to swipe my entrance card, and probably looking like I was losing a battle with the weather. Out of nowhere, he came up behind me and opened the door. Total hero moment. Now, here’s the thing: I’ve got a naturally low voice and what people like to call a “resting mean face.” So even though I said “thank you,” he didn’t hear me—and apparently thought I was just cold. A few hours later, I got a message from him on Instagram that said, “Why do you look so mean?” Bold, right? But that message turned into a conversation… and that conversation never really ended. We became official on April 10, 2020, right in the middle of COVID. While the world was shutting down, we were falling in love—and building something real, one day (and FaceTime call) at a time. From a rainy walk to walking down the aisle—who would’ve thought?
