We met in late May of 2011 when I called Robert's job to get assistance with handling the financial affairs of my mother who had recently passed away. After a visit to his office, Robert was able to help me get things in order, we exchanged a few emails back and forth regarding the transactions. During one email exchange, Robert asked for my phone number, and I gave it to him. From there we started texting and talking daily, several times a day. We went out on a date about 2 weeks after our first encounter. We met at a local restaurant, and I brought my 2 friends with me just in case things did not work out. Shortly after that, Robert had to go away on military duty for 3 months and the constant talking and texting continued. About 2 months into his duty, he came home for a visit, and we went to the movies and out to eat, we had fun together and did not want the night to end, so we sat in the restaurant for hours. When he went back to duty, we continued talking and texting constantly. He was stationed about 2 hours from MD and we missed each other and wanted to hang out, so we decided on a place that was an hour away in both directions and met there. In October of 2011, we went on our 4th date and that is when the relationship was made official. We were boyfriend and girlfriend. Fasten your seat belts, because things took off from there! Robert was a single father of a 17 year old daughter and I was a single mother of a 9 year old son, in January 2012, right after Robert's daughter's 18th birthday, I found out I was pregnant. We made the decision to combine both households and blend our families. Our daughter was born September 2012. In February 2013, we found out that I was pregnant with twins, and our boys were born October 2013. We went from single parents with 1 child a piece to a family of 7 in 2 years and with that, Lord knows there were some trials and tribulations!! The last Saturday of December 2014, we decided to get married via text, our favorite thing. We acquired the license on Monday, informed our family and friends on Tuesday, was at the courthouse on Wednesday, which was NYE 2014, with 20 of our loved ones there to witness the union. Everyone went to a local restaurant and had dinner and we were home by 8:00 pm, in the bed watching TV with the children, until the ball dropped at midnight. 12/31/24, will be the 10-year anniversary of the day we committed to going through life together forever. We got the proposal we did not get in 2014 in April 2024. Now, we will have the wedding and the honeymoon we did not get in 2014.
