Joe and Meera met through Grace Church's high school ministry on a short-term volunteer trip on the East Side of Indianapolis. Before meeting in person, the two had heard of each other through mutual friends and Joe's older sister Anna. It wasn't until the summer of 2018 that the two officially became friends. Over the years, Joe and Meera would see each other in passing, whether it was at high school cross-country meets or through their mutual friends, Owen Longest and Noah Douthit. During the Summer of 2021, Meera's friend, Sydney Haines, started to develop a relationship with Joe's college roommate, Jackson Hoover. Meera, being her curious self, could not stand to stay out of her best friend's relationship. She would call Joe to tell her everything he knew about Sydney and Jackson's relationship. Joe, being the person he is, delivered little to no information. In the Fall of 2021, Joe, Jackson, Sydney, and Meera hung out for the first time. During this time, Sydney had asked Joe to bring Meera as his date to his fraternity's winter formal. Joe agreed. Following the college first semester, Joe asked Meera on an official date, which led to 3 more dates and a first kiss! The two continued to spend time with each other and meet each other's friends before becoming an official couple on February 27, 2022. Over the next three years, Joe and Meera would visit each other at their colleges weekly, attend sporting events, fraternity and sorority formals, spend their summers together, visit many new places across the United States, and graduate from college. Meera and Joe spent one year post-college graduation adapting to a working adult life before Joe popped the question and asked Meera to marry him on July 26, 2025.
