At the end of our Junior year of college, we “re-met” at a friends apartment. After chatting, we realized that not only was Austin one of the only boys that was staying at ISU for the summer but he was also moving in right across from me. Once summer came along, we were inseparable. We just hit it off and our friendship was effortless. As senior year started, nothing changed. We spent all of our time together and naturally I fell in love. For the entire year, we were dating, without officially “dating”. We ate together, studied together, watched 45 hours of Vampire Diaries together, all of it. But Austin was persistent about not ruining our friendship by being anything more than friends. After I left school in May of 2013, we both moved home to Bourbonnais and again, spent all of our time together. Austin went back to ISU in the fall to finish school and I moved to Chicago. We were still complicated best friends throughout this entire time period and it wasn’t until Austin moved to the city in December of 2013 that things changed. [Side note: when people say timing is everything… they aren’t wrong.] After Austin moved to the city, we essentially just stopped “not dating”. I could sense that the feelings I had felt for a year and a half were finally being unconditionally reciprocated. After that, as they say, the rest is history. Our “official", unofficial dating anniversary is February 13, 2014… Simply because that was the first time I ever remember him calling me his girlfriend. (I’m not crying, you're crying).
