I was playing soccer with some friends at Dana Point Beach where we were having our church's annual picnic/baptism. My friends and I were trying to see how long we could keep a soccer ball up without it hitting the floor. That's when I saw her for the first time. She came up to us and asked if she could join. I said yes and she was juggling the soccer ball like if she was a pro. Definitely caught my attention from that point forward. We just played and talked a little. I never saw her before but assumed she was just a friend of someone and I would never see her again. I remember seeing her a few times at church. I can't forget the first time I saw her playing bass with our Friday night worship team. She could play soccer, and play an instrument, WOW!! Our story really began February 10, 2013 in our church's parking lot. I was heading to work after service and she was walking towards her car. She asked me if I was leaving already and I walked over to her and we just talked for what felt like forever and an instant at the same time. It wasn't always easy for me to have long conversations with others, especially those who I just met. But with her I just felt a connection. I told her I had to go to work but I asked for her number so we can play soccer sometime. I lived close to church and when I got home we both texted each other at the same time asking for each others last name. That day I knew I had to get to know her more. We texted a lot since that day but didn't end up playing soccer until about 2 years later.
I had been attending a church in Chino Hills for a couple of months when we had our yearly baptism service at Dana Point Beach. I was fairly new and still adjusting to all the new faces. I was still hesitant if I wanted to go to the beach but one of the girls I had connected with invited me to go with her, so I said yes. Halfway through the day, people were talking and eating when I noticed a couple of guys kicking a soccer ball around, one of them being Victor. I was bored of sitting since I still felt like the new girl, so I decided to go up to them and asked if I could play. My first impression of Victor was his smile. Having never met him, I thought he was shy and cute, but didn't think much of it at the time. We played for a bit and that was basically it. I don't remember seeing him after that until a couple of months later. I remember going to my car to grab something on a Sunday, when Victor was heading to his car to go to work. We ended up running into each other in the parking lot and talked for over 30 minutes, he was even late to work that day. He was so genuine and easy to talk to. It was as if we had known each other for a long time. We talked about playing soccer again and that's when he asked me for my number so that we could play again. The rest is history and we never ended up playing that soccer game we planned.
