FAQs

Here are some FAQ's that we have received. If you have more questions feel free to reach out to one of us and we will help you out!
Question

What are your COVID-19 Policies?

Answer

Thankfully, Chicago's community transmission rate is currently categorized as low. Though we are sure that you are taking all precautions necessary for you, your family, and ours, there is currently no masking, vaccine, or testing requirement in public places. In addition, our gathering will be mainly outside. However, we do request that you mask and do a rapid test if you have any symptoms. We can provide extra masks or tests if needed. Check here for up to date information: https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/sites/covid-19/home/covid-dashboard.html

Question

Besides the Hotels listed in Travel, where can we stay?

Answer

In addition to the nearby hotels we listed, there are many great (and possibly cheaper) hotels in the South Loop, McCormick Place and the Loop (that's Chicago's "downtown.") They are a short Uber/Lyft/Metra/CTA bus ride north of us. And Hyde Park neighborhood VRBO and Airbnb places are also good options. We recommend against staying at the hotel at 4900 S. Lake Shore Drive (called Best Western, Ramada or Chicago Lake Shore Hotel on various sites)

Question

What's on the menu?

Answer

Our cooks are "Fanfares Catering Services", a 30+ year family-owned business in the Calumet Heights neighborhood on the Southside of Chicago. We hope you will enjoy the delicious menu they prepared for us: Hors d'oeuvres-- brussels sprout skewers with sweet chili, seasonal melon kabobs with balsamic vinegar glaze (both vegan), beef tenderloin crostini, and Shave Ice/Snow Cones Buffet Dinner--Field green salad with strawberries, pepitas, gorgonzola and champagne vinaigrette, Chicken Veracruz and/or Ratatouille (vegan) over apricot-almond basmati rice with lemon-scented green beans

Question

Where should I park at The Point for the wedding?

Answer

This is a tricky one, Hyde Park doesn't have the best parking options. There is a parking lot near to the entrance to the point (5575 S Shore Dr, Chicago, IL 60615) however it is pay-to-park and can get full on the weekends. For those staying in or around the Sophy, our current plan is to have a "wedding parade" from the Sophy to the Point. It is a 15 minute walk (just under a mile) if that is something that you'd be interested in. We will have more information as we get closer to the date, so stay tuned.
