How We Met

04-18-15

Steven and I met in the way all great romances begin... an online dating app. On the night of our first date, I actually believed Steven was standing me up. I hadn't heard from him all day and was convinced I had gotten ready just to be let down. Turns out Steven had gotten off work later than he anticipated and had also gotten a slight case of cold feet. Even then, he got over his nerves and drove an hour to Seguin to take me out at 10 pm even though most places were closed. Pluckers, our mutual hatred of the Baltimore Ravens, deep car conversations in a parking lot, and a stolen kiss at a red light turned out to be the best late night first date that ended up turning into our forever.

The proposal-His story

12-19-2020

On December 19th, 2020 I successfully got the love of my life to say yes. It was no small feat for me to ask a question that big, let alone to get on one knee in front of a crowd of people. The planning all started a couple of weeks prior when I had taken a day off work to go check out potential spots to pop the big question. I knew it had to be perfect, especially since I had made her wait so long. The original spot was Mount Bonnell in Austin, Texas. I had all the right spots figured out with one of my best friends Fonzo who just so happens so be an amazing photographer. I knew it was important to her to have photos of this moment, so that was the first thing I got set-up! Fast forward to 2 days before the big day, the weather took an unfavorable turn and Mount Bonnell was going to be cloudy with some rain. When I thought all was lost, Landa Park ended up coming in clutch. It wasn't only beautiful, but it was where our home was. I went again to look for spots and ended up finding the perfect one...a field with a tall oak tree. On the morning of the 19th, I had to do the best I could to hide the real reason why we were going to the park. I had Sabrina believe we were taking Christmas couple photos, something that she loves doing, so it was a great cover up! When we got to the park, we met up with Fonzo and started taking photos leading up to the spot where he helped me set up a picnic with chocolate strawberries and champagne. The only thing I wasn't expecting was the amount of people that were going to be there that day so stage fright was hitting me so hard. I felt like I was sweating a puddle and I swore she sensed my nerves. Soon as Sabrina saw the picnic it clicked instantly for her to what we were REALLY here for. I got on one knee for about 3 seconds (again, stage fright) and like music to my ears I got an instant yes. It was one of the absolute best days of my life.

The Proposal-Her story

12-19-2020

One evening, Steven asked if I would be willing to take Christmas photos the weekend before Christmas. I said yes right away, because if you know me you know I LOVE taking pictures. Well, we had just taken fall photos and if you know Steven you know he HATES taking pictures so... I was a little skeptical that this could be when Steven was finally planning on asking me to marry him. That afternoon before the photos, I had a complete breakdown because I wasn't feeling confident and like I looked my best (which was even worse since I was already thinking this may be THE day). Steven, like he always does, wrapped me in his arms and kissed me on the forehead as he repeatedly told me how beautiful and perfect I was to him. I ended up pulling myself together and we headed towards Landa Park, a large and popular park located in New Braunfels, Tx where we bought our first home. We began taking photos with our photographer as soon as we got there and all of my nerves were vanishing. About 15 minutes or so in, Steven and the photographer lead me to this beautiful tree where underneath a picnic with champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, and a "Marry Me" sign was set up. Butterflies instantly filled my stomach and I completely blacked out because I didn't hear or remember a word he said to me. All I know is he got down on one knee and I squealed "Yes!"
