We met after Brian had come to visit some friends in Kona. He was in transition after coaching CrossFit in Saudi Arabia for the past year. He ended up staying at the same community house I (Madison) was staying in at the time. Brian having no car or anyway to get around for the week, needed some help. So we spent a lot of the week getting to know one another. The last day Brian was there he competed at our annual Uphill Battle competition. I ended up being his judge, which turned into a 2 hour "get to know you" while going from event to event. After the competition, I invited him out to eat thinking our whole house would join. Turns out that everyone already had plans, so it ended up being just us two. We ended up having such an amazing time at dinner and before his flight home that night, he asked if he could have my number to continue getting to know me. The rest is history. Brian's version- Madison asked me on our first date... it was epic and well... here we are!
How do I say this, Madison loves surprises! So I (Brian) being somewhat of a hopeless romantic wanted to make sure she never saw it coming. However I needed a plan. Thank goodness I have so many amazing friends that helped with a cabin in the mountains, and they even helped plan a fake women's meeting followed by a dinner (which was interrupted by a slight cabin cleaning detour). So on the way to dinner they had to stop and "clean" the Cabin. Little did Madison know I had been there all day, just waiting to see her & to ask her if she would spend forever together with me as we chase Jesus! Safe to say she had no clue what was happening all the way until I bent the knee. It was truly something special, we'll certainly never forget getting engaged in South Africa!
Madison feels called to empower women in their God given identity and make Jesus known across the earth. Brian feels called to raise up young men to walk in holiness and sonship. Together, we feel God has equipped us through the avenue of fitness to do this. Brian has been coaching CrossFit for nearly 10 years and would like to use this skill to develop coaches who have the same passion. We both believe God will use us to disciple athletes and coaches to display Christ and be sent to the nations. After Brian completes his discipleship training school he will move to Kona, Hawaii to join the ministry that Madison is apart of called Respect The Corners. We will start our lives as a married couple and lay a solid foundation with people we love and trust. Our long term desire is to build a team and be sent out to the Arab Gulf. God has called us to a life of missions thus, we are not asking for many wedding gifts. Instead, we would love to establish a support team. You can make a one time donation on the registry page under “Our Newlywed Fund” or you can partner with us in fulfilling the great commission by joining our monthly support team.
