I met James through his grandfather Jim Mitchell. Which was one of my dear friends. I think he was 18 years old. We always hung out at a bar called The Duplex in the village of NYC. Jim always made sure James was going to make, not only himself, but his family proud. Whenever James came to visit his grandfather, he always brought him to The Duplex to meet his framily. That’s a word we made up, it’s friend & family combined. Jim also made sure James knew who he could count on...his FRAMILY! Real talk...the first time we met, was after we got back to the rooms from seeing Avengers Infinity War, on the Young Adult Retreat in 2018. All the fellas were chopping it up about what happened. It wasn’t until the weekend was over, that Neé really introduced James to me and I saw how serious they were. At that point, the relationship was kinda long distance, but James was making arrangements to change that. In the meantime, Neé would keep me posted on James and felt that we should connect once his transition was complete. Once James got settled, we connected and once he felt comfortable around me, our relationship grew to nephew and uncle, which still remains strong today.

I met James my junior year in college after McNeese dorms decided to split me and Tay. I used to go by James and Tay’s room to kick it. My homie Tay told me about how they wasn’t really getting along so we naturally decided we was gonna jump him and start the light skin vs dark skin war. 🤷🏾♂️I never told him this but what made me reconsider jumping James was his music choice. When we got to chopping it up about 90’s rap from Biggie to Nas I was like hold up... Brodie good people, I can’t jump him. 😂😂😂 From then on we became close and now I know we gonna be brothers for life! 💪🏾Congrats on your special day!

4 years of Friendship! At the time when me and Janee met, my world had just come crashing down. It was God and music that brought us together. Even though our personalities are opposite, God knew exactly what kind of person I needed at that time. I never thought I would come across a person who would be so caring and understanding.
