Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Sophie Trede and Ryan Means
There are so many amazing things to do in and around Portland. We love a combination of good food and drinks and outdoor activities. If you want a specific recommendation, just ask! Below are a few of our most frequented and beloved places, which are on the casual side. For something fancy, you can't beat Scales and Fore Street. Izakaya Minato for sushi is also unreal.

Eastern Promenade

Eastern Promenade, Portland, ME 04101

The site of our first date! I guess it went alright despite Sophie being late (the number of minutes late changes by the day). Very scenic walk in the East End.

Portland Zoo

41 Fox Street, Portland, ME 04101

Our favorite (soccer) bar in Portland. Neighborhood vibes, home brews. Perfect place to watch the World Cup! Their frozen painkiller is to die for, ask for the nutmeg sprinkle on top.

Bunker Brewing Co

17 Westfield Street, Portland, ME 04102

A bit off the beaten path for breweries but well worth the visit.

Battery Steele Brewing

1 Industrial Way, Portland, ME 04103

Our favorite local brewery in Riverton. Lots of other great options close by in Industrial Park (Allagash, Foundation, Definitive).

Belleflower Brewing Company

Belleflower Brewing Company

66 Cove Street, Portland, ME 04101

Great brewery in East Bayside, lots of other good spots in this area (Rising Tide, Apres, Lone Pine, Goodfire, Austin Street Brewery). Usually a food truck present (Great Wave Sushi is a favorite).

Higgins Beach

Scarborough, ME 04074

Beautiful beach close to the venue in Scarborough. Popular for surfers, great place for dog walks.

The Great Lost Bear

540 Forest Avenue, Portland, ME 04101

Local pub with hearty fare and perfect pours of Guiness. We accidentally go here too often.

Mackworth Island

Falmouth, ME 04105

Beautiful walkable island right outside of Portland accessible by car. Has a 1.5 mile walking path. Gorgeous year round.

Casco Bay Lines Ferry Terminal

Maine State Pier, Portland, ME 04101

Lots of ferries going to the islands in Casco Bay. Peaks Island is a popular choice. Insider tip is to take the mail boat that goes to a few of the islands.

Arcadia - Portland, Me

504 Congress Street, Portland, ME 04101

Very fun barcade complete with pinball, air hockey, foosball and much more. Ask us who usually wins (it's me, Sophie).

Night Moves Bread

695 Broadway, South Portland, ME 04106

One of our favorite bakeries. They make amazing bread, pastries, coffee and soft serve in the summer.

Ruski's Tavern

212 Danforth Street, Portland, ME 04101

Local dive bar. Great vibes, cheap drinks. Best jello shots (so far).

Yosaku

1 Danforth Street, Portland, ME 04101

Our favorite sushi spot. Very friendly staff, lots of seating both indoor and outdoor. We recommend the mackerel roll.

Argenta Brewing Company

82 Hanover Street, Portland, ME 04101

Lovely brewery. Worth a visit for a Sunday sharp pour.

Novare Res Bier Cafe

Novare Res Bier Cafe

4 Canal Plaza, Portland, ME 04101

Bar with every beer both domestic and international you could ever want. Cozy fireplace/cellar vibes inside when it's cold and an awesome deck outside when it's sunny.
