My sister, Amber, worked at the bank John used. She came over to my house for lunch telling me about this customer who was newly single. We Facebook stalked him and I, of course, told her to give him my info! (He was/is so good looking 😍). That same afternoon he walked into the bank and Amber was able to wait on him. She told him she had a sister who was single and gave him my name to look up on Facebook. After he handled his banking business he walked back to his work van and told his coworker Mike what happened. He looked me up on Facebook but couldn’t find me. Mike convinced him to go back into the bank and asked Amber if it was a joke. (See Amber had given him my old married name and on Facebook I use my maiden name 😉.) So she gave him the correct name and he messaged me that afternoon. We had our very first and the best first date ever the next day!
I never thought this day would come and I just knew I would have to spend at least another good year to convince him to marry me! So, it all started when I decided to take a beach trip for my big 3-0! We drove down to Perdido Key Thursday afternoon. We knew we wanted to go parasailing. I thought it’d be good to go the day we left but John was insisting we go right away! I booked online for the next day. We spent that morning at the beach and later drove to the landing. When we got there they couldn’t find our reservation. We paniced bc we prepaid. We finally got to the right place and loaded up on the boat. There were only 4 of us parasailing. The other set went first then it was our turn. This was my very first time to parasail. I was so excited. They harnissed us in and up we went. We were so high and everything was so pretty. I barely paid attention to what John was doing. Next thing I know he was pulling a ring out of his pocket and asking me to marry him! I hollered yes! I was beyond happy! When we finally landed back on the boat the captain asked how it was. I could not contain my excitement and told them we were enganged! The captain said it was his first in 14 years to witness a proposal while parasailing. Fun fact: he proposed with a fake ring in case he dropped it. I got the real one when we landed!
