Meaghan and Alex met in September 2016, fall semester of their senior year on a rainy Thursday night. Alex had just interviewed for a job in Arlington and went out to celebrate with a friend who went to GMU. Meaghan did not want to go out that night, her friends dragged her out more or less against her will, because you know there were only so many Thursdays left of college. Meaghan saw Alex from across the room and her friends ran up to him so they could start talking. They spent their senior year of college splitting their time between Virginia Tech & George Mason visiting each other and falling in love. After graduation, Alex moved back to Northern Virginia which put an end to their long distance relationship. Five years later they live together with their puppy, Quinn.

Meaghan and Alex went to Virginia Beach to visit Meaghan's brother, it was the first time her whole family would be together in quite a few months. "Coincidentally" Alex's family would be in Virginia Beach the same weekend, so we planned a lunch for everyone to get together. Alex told Meaghan they had to leave early to meet his parents. When they arrived at lunch, conveniently Alex's parents got stuck in traffic and were running late. Meaghan and Alex walked around and found a sweet little picnic table to sit and wait. Much to Meaghan's surprise, Alex popped the question and for the first time in her life, she was speechless. To add to Meaghan's surprise, their families knew the whole time (even Meaghan's 6 year old niece was in on it).
