It was March 2021, when Meaghan, who was visiting Tallahassee for the weekend after moving to Tampa, asked me if I had any single friends in the Tampa area that I could introduce her to (as if Meaghan really needed my help…). And although he was living in Lakewood Ranch at the time (close enough), my mind quickly went to my old throwing partner and locker neighbor Mr. Alec Neuzil. The more I thought about it, the more it made sense. Their personalities, likes and dislikes, values, hobbies - everything just clicked. Despite my match-making skills (and Meaghan’s follow ups asking “what about that one guy?”), it took a few months to introduce the two because Alec was adamantly against blind dates. It wasn’t until the July 4th weekend that I was finally able to arrange a meetup with mutual friends at Lemon Bar in Neptune Beach. They seemed to hit it off, and after I created a group chat with the three of us (because both Meaghan and Alec were too nervous to ask for the other’s number), we were off to the races! As fate would have it, the two unexpectedly ran into each other at a party the next day and spent the evening “talking” on the beach AND ignoring phone calls from their more responsible friends who were wondering where they were. The fireworks overhead weren't the only sparks flying that weekend, and Meaghan and Alec have been inseparable ever since.
