How We Met

The Washington boy falls for the California girl.

Meaghan and Zack met in Bexell Hall at Oregon State University in October of 2012. Both sophomores at the time determined to graduate from the College of Business, they became fast friends bonding over sports, coffee and Greek life. During fall term with 3 out of 4 classes together, they gravitated towards each other. Meaghan and Zack partnered on group projects and invited one another to his and her house dances. It wasn't until spring term when "just friends" turned into feelings and eventually grew into something so much more. On May 19, 2013 after a breakfast date at Elmer's Restaurant, Zack walked Meaghan to her car and officially asked her to be his girlfriend in the middle of the parking lot. The rest is history...

Our Engagement

A unforgettable surprise in Dubai.

While Meaghan was managing an incentive program in Dubai, her family flew out to the Middle East to join the fun and experience a once-in-a-lifetime vacation. On the final day of her work event, Zack planned a celebratory dinner at Dubai’s most romantic restaurant, Pierchic. Located on a pier, overlooking the Persian Gulf with views of the Burj Al Arab, the setting was breathtaking. As Meaghan sat down at the table along with Zack, her parents, siblings and their significant others, little did she know what surprise was in store. A waiter emerged placing a glass container filled with a cloud of hookah smoke in front of her. While Bridget and Bud were about to jump at what they thought was an appetizer, the waiter lifted the lid and swirled his wrist allowing the hookah smoke to slowly disappear. All that remained on the plate was an engagement ring and Meaghan’s eyes instantly filled with tears. Zack immediately got on one knee and proposed asking for her hand in marriage. Meaghan said, “Of course!” and the champagne began to flow. As hugs and kisses were being exchanged, YMCA by The Village People rang through the restaurant’s speakers overhead. It was such a special moment and a clear sign that Papa Bud and Grandma Pat were dancing and celebrating with us from above. December 9, 2019 is a day Meaghan and Zack will never forget.
