Portland International Airport (PDX) is the closest airport for out-of-town guests intending to fly in.
Reserve a room at our wedding group rate (either 1 king or 2 queens) by September 16th by visiting the link below. Or you can call the number above & mention the Arms Wedding Hotel Block.
Drive the Columbia River Gorge, stop at Multnomah Falls, and maybe even fit in one of the beautiful hikes like Angel's Rest, Hamilton Mountain, or the one at Multnomah Falls!
If you want to head towards the coast, go for a walk at Hug Point (where our engagement shoot was) and/or Cannon beach to see the iconic Haystack Rock! If you have time for a hike, there are some beauties in that area like at Ecola State Park or you could attempt to fit in a hike up Saddle Mountain on the way there or back!
Go see the majesty of Mt. Hood up close, perhaps hike to Tom, Dick, & Harry Peak to get the perfect selection of the mountain from Mirror Lake, then take a gander in Government Camp before enjoying some stargazing at Timberline Lodge! The mountain is near and dear to the Dooney Fam's hearts as it's where they've all learned to ski, and yet not one of us has ever quite gotten as good as the OG, Papi!
Where the city of Portland began, take a walk all the way around and see all the random whimsy to be found in the park and then walk down to the waterfront and walk as far as you'd like in either direction to see all the infamous bridges of Portland - our first date was doing just that and Oran still hasn't gotten the names down - maybe one day ;) Try eating at one of the local food trucks while you're at it!
Closer in to Portland is a 30-acre forest in the city with hiking trails galore...if you have time to hike up to Pittock Mansion for some city views & history - start in Downtown from Lower Macleay Trail!
Beautiful park with the St. John's Bridge - looks like a Cathedral when walking underneath!
A beautiful park that also happens to be the highest point in Portland - close to where the Dooney's grew up and always a treat! Make sure to see what happens when you stand in the middle circle at the top!
Beautiful park especially if the roses are in bloom, but they might be just disappearing as fall begins...
If you want to take in the view with a drink in hand, check out one of the rooftop bars: Departure at the Nines Hotel or Portland City Grill or Tope (West side) and/or Noble Rot or Revolution Hall (East side)
Take a ride on the Portland Spirit to see the city from the water and enjoy a pretty cruise!
The grotto is a shrine with special tribute to Mary, the Mother of Jesus, that was designated a National sanctuary in 1983. It is an outdoor garden filled with beautiful Catholic art. They have a church for mass and it is a quiet place to pray and enjoy the beauty of God in creation and nature.
We love St. Patrick’s, our home parish, but renovations are beginning on it right before our wedding, hence the reason we chose Meagan’s childhood church for the wedding. There are other beautiful churches in the area as well. For Sunday Mass, we would recommend St. Patrick’s in Portland at 10am, St. Mary’s Cathedral in Portland at 9 or 11am, or the Proto-Cathedral of St. James the Greater in Vancouver at 9am. St. Stephen’s has a traditional Latin mass at 10:30am if you’d prefer.
