How We Met

Love at first swipe

Our story began in November of 2016. We first met online where we chatted back and forth for a few weeks before deciding to meet in person. Our first date was at a pub with a juke box and pool tables. We instantly were attracted to each others personalities. We spent the first part of the evening sharing stories and making each other laugh. After we played one game of pool together (Jay was wow'd by Meagan's pool skills), another couple challenged us to a game. After we kicked their asses, two male friends (who brought their own pool sticks) challenged us and we also beat them! When we finished playing, we had a few more drinks and were chatting with the first couple we had beat. Somehow, we all started people watching and noticed a couple across the bar that was obviously on their first date. They were awkwardly sitting at a table and you could tell by their body language, the date was not going well. The other couple laughed and said "ugh, don't you hate first dates? They are always so uncomfortable." Jay and I laughed and told them we were on our first date. They didn't believe us!!! They said, "no way, you guys seem so comfortable and natural with each other." Our connection was effortless and natural - almost as if it was meant to be.

How He Proposed

December 14, 2018

It was our second anniversary. We spent the day in Boston walking the city, stopping at various pubs for drinks and apps, people watching and laughing. Jay had made reservations at a nice Italian restaurant for dinner and told me he had arranged a "ride". A horse and carriage arrives and an old married couple tells us they will be bringing us to dinner. I got into the carriage first, while Jay paid the couple. Jay also gave them his camera at the same time (not to my knowledge). While we rode to dinner, we even saw carolers walking through the street! Jay was so excited and proud of himself for planning the horse and carriage, saying it was the perfect end to our anniversary. I thought this was his big hoorah. The ride ended in front of the big christmas tree at Fanueil Hall. The old man turned around holding a camera and said "do you mind if I take some pictures of you guys, my wife and I like to take pictures of all our customers?" I thought it was a little strange because he was snapping so many pictures of us. He took some of us in the carriage, then standing next to the horse. In my head I was thinking "what's this weirdo taking all these pictures for??" Finally, the old man stops and goes to hand me the camera. I take a step forward to grab the camera and I heard Jay say "Meagan" and I turned around to him on one knee, proposing! The old man took lots of pictures of the proposal, but in most of them I am blurry from jumping up and down! There was a crowd of people around that I heard say "awww" but I was in complete shock!
