In December 2020, Meagan and Jacob decided to forgo exchanging Christmas gifts and decided to plan weekend trips for each other. Jacob decided to plan a weekend trip for Meagan in May 2021 to a surprise location. Meagan had a tiny inkling this trip might be the trip where Jacob proposes, but the whole plan hinged on him already having her grandmother's engagement ring. Jacob, along with his partners in crime, had fooled Meagan into thinking he did not have the ring! With the wool pulled over Meagan's eyes, Jacob proposed during their weekend getaway at the Inn at Little Washington!
