We're getting married!

Circa 2019, around spring time, Meagan was working in the cardiovascular surgical intensive care unit (CVICU) at Stanford Healthcare. When she was unable to start an IV on her acutely ill and very sick patients, she would reach out to the Critical Care Response Team and would receive help from the *same exact* person each and every time. Was it ironic or was it fate? A little bit of stalking? :) She wasn't sure...but being that she was a "chatty midwestern girl" and that he loves to talk (nonstop) at baseline... she struck up conversations and small talk with Garrett each time he arrived and he did not hesitate to chat right back (for hours). Not long after the frequent IV starts and small talk began, Garrett quickly became a fellow colleague RN in the CVICU as a new hire to the ICU. He didn't know it then, but he quickly realized this place would change his life forever (in all good ways) :) We quickly became good friends: frequenting breweries, Achilles Mediterranean Restaurant, date nights, hockey games, and gatherings with fellow co-workers. Then March of 2020 hit: the Covid-19 Pandemic AND Garrett's acceptance into Samuel Merritt's Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesia Program. *Cue the time warp now... Continuing to work side by side throughout the pandemic, we grew to know each other better, make each other laugh constantly, and managed to think of non-traditional things (for a newly dating couple) to do...think sourdough baking for fun... when nothing else was able to be done (Aka quarantining). Our friendship blossomed into a relationship where we grew very close with talks of the future and how "we" would be strategizing and navigating this CRNA school experience AND continuing our relationship simultaneously. Garrett left the CVICU in 2020 and dove right into his CRNA school experience. The next 2 years flew by as there were many travels to places for meet ups, many late night phone conversations, the meeting of both of our families, and many long hours and stressful days for us both as I completed my Master's Degree in Nursing as well during this time. But despite all of that, we MADE it through and on January 23rd, 2024 we got ENGAGED under the "northern lights" of our Campbell, CA condo with our Dog son Murphy as a witness. We have had our ups and downs, but we make a great team together and have found each other's person. We are very much looking forward to living this incredible life together, and are blessed to have our families and friends alongside!
