Jesse and I "knew" each other since we both went to the same high school. It wasn't until a few years later this familiar face I "knew" became one of the most important persons in my life. I came home one weekend from college with plans to hang out with my friends Brittany and Ania. Brittany didn't include any details of our plans for the evening but she informed me that Jesse and Logan were meeting up with us. I hop in Brittany's car and we met everyone at Tavern, a local place in Northern Kentucky. The place was basically empty so we decided to start playing Apples to Apples. Every time it was Jesse's turn to select the funniest card, he would always pick mine. I should have known then he was a keeper! We all sat, laughed and talked until the place was about to close down for the night. Little did Jesse and I know, Brittany put my contact information into his phone, best wing woman ever! Needless to say, we hit it off that night and the rest is history.
Jesse and I had been dating 3 years to the day that day. It was just another day that we both spent at work. At this point in time the United States is slowly starting to reopen because of COVID-19. No dine-in seating at restaurants in Kentucky, if they had even reopened. We wanted to at least grab a steak dinner to celebrate. What I thought we planned on was to meet at his house, go to Longhorn and have a "romantic" dinner in their parking lot. I arrive to Jesse's house to find his sister Myrna, her two children, his mom Janice and Jesse already there. To say I was confused was an understatement. As I was getting in Jesse's truck I hear Myrna say, "I heard today is your all's anniversary! Humor me and let me take your picture!" We agreed and started taking pictures. Myrna places me directly in front of Jesse for the next photo. As she was trying to position me, Jesse yells, "Hey!" I look behind me, he was down on one knee with the ring box in his hands. My eyes were big as saucers and my jaw hit the ground! Of course when he asked, I said "Yes!!" Never in my wildest dreams did I think Jesse would propose to me during a pandemic!
