We didn't realize it at the time, but shortly after we began dating, a photograph of our 2001 soccer team surfaced - and we noticed we were BOTH on the same team! While that's the first time we "met", the first time we actually remember meeting was 4 years later, in Ms. Roger's 5th grade classroom. We sat next to each other (gotta love alphabetical seating charts), and Evan even got Haley in trouble a couple of times by talking too much. We continued into middle school as friends, until we eventually went to different high schools. Low and behold, we reconnected our senior year and realized that fate couldn't keep us apart.
We've talked about marraige for what feels like forever, but after watching several of our closest friends get married last year, it all started feeling a lot more real. We began talking about our ideal venue, rings, dates, and so on, but Haley still had no idea when Evan would pop the question. Now that we look back on it, Haley definitely should've seen it coming: we went home for Christmas (Haley's absolute favorite time of year), and were surrounded by all of our family for the weekend. On the morning of December 25th, Evan got down on one knee as Haley thought she was opening a present from Evan's mom. As it turned out, it was a "Will you marry me?" sign, and Evan had the ring in his hand as Haley looked up. It was so sweet and makes Haley even more in love with the Christmas season!
