HERstory

The Wedding Website of Erica Hollins and Tennelle McSwain

"...from vibing to VOWS!"

T. McSwain

We first met on Facebook Dating, and what started as a little swipe turned into something way bigger than we ever planned. Our first date was at Starbucks, and from the moment we linked up, it was up. We started talking and just did not stop. Hours went by, and we were sharing life stories, laughing, and vibing. The whole time, the workers were looking at us like, ‘Y’all gotta go.’ They had to tell us they were closing more than once, and we still were not ready to leave. So yeah... we didn’t. 😭 She was all over me, moe. Lol. From that night on, it was a wrap. Since May 4, 2023, we have been stuck like glue. The “if you see one, the other is not too far” type. What we built is real, easy, natural, and never forced. It is not just a relationship. It is a best friend, a safe space, and somebody you can truly be yourself with. Now let’s be honest. We both came into this a little guarded. Healing, chilling, and minding our business. We were not really looking for anything serious. But something about that first night felt different. It was genuine, comfortable, and just felt right. So we took a chance, and it turned into the best decision we ever made. From a Starbucks date we did not want to end, to building a life we both prayed for, look at us now. And now we get to celebrate all of this love with our people, and yeah, it is only right that you are there with us.

"Single.Starbucks.SPOKEN FOR"

E. Hollins

I was actually ready to take a break from dating. I had Facebook Dating open, and I was about to delete it, but I swiped one last time. And there was Tennelle. I thought she was really cute, but I got hung up on her being a bit shorter than me (she said she was 5’7”). I was about to swipe left. But I talked to my best friend, and I decided to do something different…so I swiped right. We started talking. She asked for my Instagram. We chatted about books, how we take care of ourselves, and then she asked for my number. She even joked that she doesn’t usually talk to girls like this. After a couple of failed attempts to meet, we finally did. We met at a Starbucks. I was scared to go because I was on the verge of leaving D.C. after a failed relationship. But I went. We sat there talking until they closed. In that moment, I met the love of my life. It was hours of conversation, nothing superficial, nothing rushed. It was a totally different energy than any date I’d had before. We didn’t want to leave. We talked about how we made each other smile. And from there, we’ve had countless little dates. We always showing each other something different. I was nervous, but that moment changed everything. I met my person. And here we are. We appreciate the love we have, and always want to give love to others. This day reflects just that.
