Welcome to our wedding website! On March 28, 2020 we were married in a private ceremony in Moscow, Idaho. We had all expectations of celebrating with you all at a later date but now we have a little one on the way (February 21, 2021!) and in order to keep you, our nearest and dearest loved ones, and our sweet little growing babe safe and healthy, we have ultimately decided we will be holding our wedding ceremony virtually! Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, only the bridal party and immediate family will be participating directly. We hope you’ll understand. We sincerely wish we could celebrate with you all in person but please join us in our virtual celebration because this is still an incredibly joyous loving occasion and we would still love to see all your lovely smiling faces!! The Zoom link information for the wedding can be found on the Wedding Ceremony page of this website. We’ve created this website as a convenient and interactive way to share all of the important details with you in the lead up to our wedding. You can also read more about our love story, get to know our awesome bridal party, and check out our registry information too. Finally – thank you for your ongoing love and support. We are so excited to share this day with you and look forward to seeing all your beautiful smiling faces even if its virtually!
Our story began at the University of Idaho College of Law in Moscow, Idaho. Alex was in his second year of law school and Ashley was in her fourth and final year, wrapping up her juris doctorate and master's degrees. In February 2017, they had both entered into a university wide essay contest after which, each was told they were the winner not knowing that the other was also a winner. At the awards ceremony, they were surprised to see each other, accepting an award they each thought they had won solely. Sharing the award also meant they would be splitting the award money. Somewhat disgruntled, they shook hands and went their separate ways. Both Ashley and Alex were also part of the Environmental Law Society (ELS). There was a law school ski trip planned by ELS to McCall. This was the first place that Alex and Ashley skied together at and where Alex ended up proposing to Ashley at on December 14, 2019. After that first trip to McCall, they learned that they had each received a grant to go to a law conference in Quito, Ecuador. Out of everyone that had applied, they were the two chosen to go (Always a heartfelt thank you to Professor Cosens!!!). From there, they had decided that maybe they could be friends. Although they had separate plans made for their trip they decided to meet up and go adventuring when they both arrived in Quito. So they planned in between ski days and by the time came in April to go to Ecuador, they were becoming fast friends. And then it began. Their time in Ecuador was full of surprise, excitement, pure joyous fun. They went to Ecuador as just friends but came back to the states to become something much more. After a couple of years in law school together, we didn't realize that what was soon to come would be something for the books. Life events kept throwing us together in the most unexpected ways. The universe was obviously trying to tell us something. It took a minute for us to listen, but then we did, and the rest is history.
