Providence is where our story began, long before we ever called it love. We met at Johnson & Wales when Matt transferred in and Lex was a junior. The first interaction happened at 180 Oakland of course, with Lex running the keg and handing the new kid a beer—about as on brand as it gets. It felt like any other night… nothing that hinted at what it would become. But from that point on, they just kept showing up in each other’s lives. After college, that didn’t change. Jersey Shore weekends, Hoboken nights, Long Island backyard parties—no matter what was going on, Matt & Lex were always there. It was just how it was. So when it started to feel different, it didn’t happen all at once. There wasn’t a single moment. It showed up quietly—in the way they started to look for each other first, in conversations that didn’t feel like they should end, in the way saying goodbye started to feel a little harder than it used to. And somewhere in all of that, Lex realized the person who had always been there wasn’t just a friend. He was the one she trusted most… he was home. And when she finally let herself feel that, Matt didn’t hesitate. He met her there, fully and without holding back. Flashback to the "first date" in 2018 didn’t really end. It just kept going—from Smorgasburg to a Rangers game to a wine bar in Hoboken… even though Matt doesn’t even like wine (classic). Because in a lot of ways, that’s what it’s always been: showing up and not wanting to leave. And now, it’s just us—choosing each other in all the small, ordinary ways that end up meaning everything.
