Unfortunately, due to restrictions and concerns around COVID-19, Amy and I have decided to postpone our August 15th wedding. Our first priority is the health and safety of you all, our loved ones. Secondly, the city of Chicago will likely still have a 50 person event maximum at that time, meaning we wouldn’t be able to celebrate with all of you as we’d like. As such, we feel it best to postpone our celebration until we all feel comfortable traveling and gathering once again. We look forward to seeing you all soon! Please let us know if you have any questions.
Amy didn’t live in Chicago and Marcus was relatively new to the city, but on a nondescript Friday night in early October, Marcus and Amy found themselves under the same roof, brought together unknowingly by mutual friends. Amy’s bright red shirt caught Marcus’ eye, and they struck up a conversation. Through a serendipitous turn of events, they ended up in a restaurant in the Noble Square neighborhood, friends nowhere to be found. After many hours of conversation, Marcus made sure Amy got safely to where she needed to go. A week or so later, home in Ohio, Amy received a message from Marcus and they began trading daily emails, texts and phone calls. Marcus eventually made the trip to Cleveland for their first official date, after which came many traverses of I-90 as their relationship developed. Since Amy moved to Chicago, the couple have travelled the world, from Seattle to Iceland to Japan, enjoyed countless memorable meals, taken in dozens of concerts, enjoyed a number of walks around the golf links and hiked and camped many stunning trails. Amy and Marcus are thrilled to invite you to Chicago, the city in which their relationship was born, to celebrate the past and toast the future. It’s going to be a great party, so bring your dancing shoes and singing pipes.
Amy’s job brought her to South America, where Marcus met her in Santiago, Chile. After a day or two in the city, they packed up the car and drove seven hours north to the verdant, grape growing desert valley of Pisco El Qui. The hot days were spent cycling, sipping pisco at vineyards, and sitting at the pool overlooking the valley. The cool nights were spent hiking the hilltops under the Milky Way and gazing through super powered telescopes at distant galaxies. The morning Amy and Marcus departed the valley, they stopped at its base for one last look. As the early morning sun rose over the hilltops, Marcus bent the knee, and Amy said yes.
