Our story starts back in 2022, when both Sydney and Jacob worked at Chick-fil-A, along with Sydney’s brother, Reese. Jacob and Reese were already good friends (you can probably see where this is headed). So when Reese casually mentioned that his sister Sydney would be joining the team, Jacob jokingly said, “I’m going to date your sister.” Turns out… that’s exactly what he did! After working together for about two months, Jacob and Sydney started talking outside of work, specifically on June 2, 2022 (but who’s counting?) They quickly realized just how much they had in common. A few weeks later, they went on their first official hang-out on June 22, 2022. And if you’ve caught onto the pattern already, then you won’t be surprised that after days of seeing each other nonstop, they made it official on July 22, 2022. Oh... and did we mention that 22 just happens to be Jacob’s favorite number? Destiny? Coincidence? Or the universe having a little fun with them? Sydney headed off to Concordia University in Seward, NE while Jacob began his junior year at UNL. The next two years were filled with highway miles, weekend drives, late-night calls, and a whole lot of love growing between them. After Jacob graduated, he accepted his first teaching position at Arlington Public Schools as a business and computer teacher. What used to be spontaneous weekday dinner dates turned into weekend-only visits, but the distance didn’t weaken their relationship. If anything, it made it stronger. And after everyone’s favorite question: “So… when is Jacob going to propose?” He finally popped the question on May 28th, 2025 during the McReynolds family photos. Even with all the hints, Sydney was still completely and utterly surprised. Looking ahead, Sydney will be attending Physical Therapy school in Omaha, Jacob will continue to be teaching at Arlington Public Schools, and the two will be living together in Fremont, Nebraska. They are so grateful for all the love from their friends and family and cannot wait to celebrate surrounded by the people who have supported them every step of the way. We truly cannot wait to celebrate with you. See you on July 18th, 2026! ❤️
