Heceta Head Beach and Lighthouse is one of our favorite places to visit on the Oregon Coast. Florence is about a 1 hour drive from Eugene. The ocean is cold and not safe for swimming, but definitely dip your toes in the water and hike up the short trail to the lighthouse!
Eugene is commonly referred to as "TrackTown, USA" and is home to the famous Hayward Field. Hayward is the home of United States track and field and the olympic trials are held here! This is also a great place to park and walk around the University of Oregon's campus.
For our more outdoorsy and adventurous people, Mt. Pisgah is a great hike! It's a 3.5 mile hike to the top and back and has an amazing panoramic view of Eugene and the Willamette Valley.
This is a great - and fairly flat - out and back hike about an hour and a half outside of Eugene. The end is a view of "Blue Pool", which is a cold-spring pool that is a crisp 37 degrees year-round! Swimming is not advised. The hike can be really crowded, so go early in the morning!
Gorgeous vineyards and great wine on the outskirts of Eugene!
Another great wine spot on the outskirts of Eugene
The Burke Family's all-time favorite restaurant in Eugene! Italian food from scratch.
Great thai food and centrally located in Eugene. Kelsie's favorite is the crispy thai basil and Michael's favorite is the sabai noodle (pad thai).
Where Kelsie went to college! Walk around and explore. She lived at the Weatherford dorm in the center of campus and the Delta Gamma sorority house on 23rd street. While you're in Corvallis, if you're a sushi fan, stop by Sada Sushi on Monroe. It's one of Michael and Kelsie's favorites!
Fun family spot and previous home of the famous orca whale, Keiko (who starred in Free Willy).
Michael and Kelsie's favorite spot to eat in Newport. You know how much we love our oysters, and Local Ocean has the BEST fresh oysters!
Click on the link for the address to the trailhead parking lot. Spencer's is a fun and fairly quick hike, but it does have a lot of stair steps before you reach the summit! Great view of Autzen stadium, the Oregon campus, Eugene, and the Willamette Valley. This is a Burke family favorite! Bring water and good shoes!
