Travel + Lodging

Getting to Martha’s Vineyard Martha’s Vineyard is a small island seven miles off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The island is only accessible by plane seasonally and by ferry year round. You’ll need to do a little extra planning to get “on island”, but we’ll help you get started! We HIGHLY recommend making your travel plans as soon as possible! Please reach out via email at mcnallyweddingmv@gmail.com or text us with any questions about travel or accommodations.

Travel Note

Shuttles

There will be shuttles to and from the wedding on Saturday leaving from the main towns we suggest staying in under “Lodging”. There are taxi and rideshare services available (i.e. Uber) for any other events throughout the weekend as well. That said, those that are planning to spend a few days on the island and/or want to explore will likely want a car as the island’s beaches and towns are spread out. The only way to bring your own car to the island is to travel via the Woods Hole Ferry and car reservations book up quickly (see below). There are several rental car options as well from Hertz, Budget, etc. and there are pick-up locations at the airport as well near the Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs ferry terminals.

By Ferry Boat

Steamship Authority Woods Hole, MA to Martha’s Vineyard This is the most common and efficient ferry to get to Martha's Vineyard. Once you fly into Boston Logan Airport, you can rent a car or take the Peter Pan Bus to this ferry. As the island’s main lifeline, Steamship Authority is the only ferry service for vehicles and passengers. . Leaving from Woods Hole, Massachusetts, it’s a 45 minute trip from dock to dock on a very large ferry boat. The ferry operates daily from 6:00AM until 9:45PM just about every hour. Reservations are required for vehicles and should be made as soon as possible as availability will be limited. Reservations are not required for passengers and you can get them when you arrive at the terminal. You can visit steamshipauthority.com for schedules and to make a vehicle reservation. Please note: Ferries go to different ports throughout the day (Vineyard Haven (VH) and Oak Bluffs (OB)), so be mindful when selecting your time. From the terminal, you can either walk to your hotel or take an Uber.
