Things To Do

Josh: For anyone coming in from out of town, if you have the chance to spend some time in LA beyond the wedding, you'll find no shortage of things to do. I've put a few ideas here of things that may not make it to the top of many tour guide lists but which are special to me, trying to note those that are near the wedding venue where applicable. A lot of the suggestions are food-related... Amanda: I'm busy, tell them to Google it.
Ernest E. Debs Regional Park

Ernest E. Debs Regional Park

4235 Monterey Road, Los Angeles, CA 90032

Sure, the hike up to the Hollywood sign is iconic--and it's going to give you some great views too!--but if you'd like to avoid the crowds and influencers and get to some equally impressive vistas, check out Debs Park!

Spoke Bicycle Cafe

Spoke Bicycle Cafe

3050 North Coolidge Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90039

Great little restaurant along the LA River Bike Path. Amanda and I love to go here after a bike ride or a run. You can rent a bike here and go exploring, or just grab a bite and hang out.

Verdugo Bar

Verdugo Bar

3408 Verdugo Road, Los Angeles, CA 90065

Craft beer and spirits ... and where we had our first date!

Shatto 39 Lanes

Shatto 39 Lanes

3255 4th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90020

One of our earliest date spots, and just a great spot to hang out with a group of your best buds. The decor looks like it hasn't been updated much since the 90s, and the prices are refreshingly reasonable (unlike some of the hipper, more Instagramable lanes elsewhere in the city).

HMS Bounty

HMS Bounty

3357 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90010

Favorite local watering hole with a nautical theme. Located in Koreatown near our place!

Sabores Oaxaqueños Restaurant

Sabores Oaxaqueños Restaurant

3337 1/2 West 8th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90005

Favorite local restaurant, located near our place. Go here if you're looking for Oaxacan cuisine, especially mole, but don't want to wait an hour at Guelaguetza down the street (which, to be clear, is also very good!).

Japanese American National Museum

Japanese American National Museum

100 North Central Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012

Powerful museum that celebrates the history and culture of the Japanese-American community while providing an honest portrayal of what the Japanese American experience has been like in US history. [Located Near Venue/Hotel]

Chado Tea Room

Chado Tea Room

369 1st Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012

Lovely spot for tea and snacks. [Located Near Venue/Hotel]

Cafe Dulce

Cafe Dulce

134 Japanese Village Plaza Mall, Los Angeles, CA 90012

Nice cafe with sweet treats located in the Japanese Village Plaza Mall. [Located Near Venue/Hotel]

Far Bar

Far Bar

347 1st Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012

Great bar with a great happy hour! [Located Near Venue/Hotel]

For all the days along the way
