One random, summer weekend in June 2019, Jake and Liz found themselves at Dewey Beach, Delaware, three hours away from home. Liz was there with friends, and Jake was there for a bachelor party. There was an event going on that weekend called Running of the Bulls. After a day in the sun, Liz went to an outdoor beach bar where corn hole was being played. She looked up and saw a very handsome man signaling her to come over. Liz quickly grabbed a friend and went over to say "hi". His name was Jake and he was from Reston, VA, just a 25-minute drive from where Liz lived in Arlington, VA. They couldn't believe they lived so close to each other in Virginia and shared the same Alma Mater, JMU! They felt an instant connection and spent the rest of the afternoon and night together listening to bands with friends at Bottle and Cork and started texting the next day. Liz's friends LOVED Jake instantly. Things moved quickly, and they had their first date at Fiola Mare in Georgetown the following week. They were inseparable after that, splitting up time in 2020 between Arlington and Reston. They moved in together in April 2021 and got their first dog child, Chema, the same year. Together, they have traveled the world, share many mutual friends, and have become a part of each other's families. Liz loves Jakes's kind, generous, and supportive nature. Jake loves Liz's kind heart, and love of life and adventure. Jake proposed in July 2023 at the top of the Watergate Hotel with both families there to share the joy! They're thrilled to embark on this next chapter as they prepare to become husband and wife!
