Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into water, the actions of individuals can have far-reaching effects. If I had not decided to accept a job offer and move hundreds of miles away from home, Logan and I would have never met! We met on our first day at the agency, and spent the next six months navigating the academy in the same recruit class. We became close friends, and when our training took us to Georgia we bonded over our mutual love of Harry Potter and a good rum and coke. We have many fond memories together with friends while we were there, including beach trips, Disney World, and the surviving the sweltering heat. By time we returned to Maryland, we considered each other to be best friends.
After graduation, Logan wanted to grow our relationship to more than a friendship. Coming to Maryland, I was hesitant to start dating because I wanted to focus on my career. He waited patiently, and finally after I found my place at work I agreed to go out (although I wouldn't call it a "date" until the end of the night). Our date took us hiking in the local state park, which has become one of our favorite places, and dinner at a local restaurant. The best part about it was that because we had been friends for awhile, it was such a fun date because we were already so comfortable around each other! This sparked a series of amazing dates throughout the next few years!
I made it until an hour before the proposal without Sarah suspecting anything! I planned with my sister in law and brother to go to Linganore Winery to "celebrate" Jacki's birthday. When we arrived, we were greeted by someone who asked for Logan and that they wanted to ask me a couple of questions (even though Sean was supposed to be the one planning the "birthday party"). Naturally, Sarah became suspicious and when she asked, I couldn't come up with a good answer and basically ignored her questions. After a wine tasting, we headed on a "private tour" of the barrel room (even though no such tour actually exists at Linganore). There, I asked Sarah for a picture in front of the barrels. Instead of posing for a picture, I proposed and of course she said yes! We celebrated that night on the lawns at Linganore with a custom made wine bottle to mark the occasion!
