An iconic view of Lake Tahoe. There are different spots to pull over and admire Emerald Bay, so don’t be discouraged if you can’t park directly at the point. Inspiration Point is easily accessed along Highway 89. If you can get up early enough, Emerald Bay at sunrise, in spring, is beautiful! Hiking: Check out the Rubicon Trail from Emerald Bay State Park if you’d like to take in Emerald Bay from a higher vantage point, check out. The Vikingsholm Trail will lead you downhill to the lake’s shore.
If you're looking for a party beach, look no further than Zephyr Cove Beach!
This beach takes a little effort to get to; it’s about a 1.5 mile hike or bike ride down an old fire road located on Highway 28 about two miles north of Highway 50. When you reach the fork on the fire road, going left leads to Prey Meadows where you can picnic next to a creek among fragrant wildflowers, and the right fork will take you the coves of Skunk Harbor. Thunderbird Beach and Chimney Beach are other secluded beaches a short hike off of Hwy 28.
Rent a mountain bike and hit one of the trails!
