Our first date was in a cute restaurant in NYC on March 15, 2020--the night before everything shut down due to the pandemic. We were the only couple in the restaurant and we stayed for 4 hours talking about anything and everything. Duncan walked me home and the following day I flew back to Iowa because of the pandemic worries. Despite only one date, we kept in touch--texting turned into regular phone calls, which turned into regular multiple-hour FaceTimes, which eventually turned into Duncan inviting me to spend Memorial Day Weekend with him at his parents' house in Alabama. Crazily, I said yes and on our technical second date met his parents! The rest, as they say, is history and we became inseparable. We spent the rest of 2020 going back and exploring an empty NYC together, 2021 brought our move to Nashville, lots of hiking trips, including our Alaska engagement (!), and now 2022 is bringing our wedding!

We love going on hikes, exploring new places, and being outside! We're also on a mission to visit every National Park in the U.S.! Duncan's birthday is always around Labor Day Weekend, and for his 29th birthday he suggested we take a weekend trip to Alaska and hike in Kenai Fjords National Park. I knew something was up when I asked him if we should sit down and plan it all out and his response was "I already planned it. We have plane tickets, train tickets, room booked, and everything else." Duncan proposed at the highest point on the trail during our hike overlooking the Harding Ice Field and even brought up 2 plastic champagne flutes and a bottle of champagne for us to celebrate with afterwards!
